Helen has over 25 years experience of working in the children’s rights field, focusing on child domestic labour, the sexual exploitation of children and children's participation. Helen began her career working with a movement of street children in Indonesia, then spent eight years working with children’s rights advocacy group ECPAT UK campaigning for the rights of sexually exploited children. Helen was based in Bangkok for two years, working as a consultant on the UN Study on Violence Against Children and has worked for five years as Oak Fellow on Children's Participation in Preventing Sexual Violence advising on a collaborative project between the University of Bedfordshire and the Oak Foundation. Helen is currently working freelance with interests in children's participation, youth-led activism and safeguarding.
