Children-friendly cartoon versions of the PhD research project 'Children Serving Children have been produced...for the children and young people in Mwanza, Tanzania who participated in focus groups and interviews as part of Jonathan Blagbrough's PhD research.  The cartoons focus on the key findings and are being distributed to research participants by the Tanzanian Domestic Workers Coalition.  A huge shout out to George Chimaga at the TDWC for his unwavering support for this research project.

Children Serving Children outlines the key findings and implications for policy and practice from Jonathan Blagbrough's doctoral thesis and explores relations between child domestic workers and the children of employing families in Mwanza, Tanzania.  September 2020

Key findings explore:

  • the importance of engaging with employing families for positive outcomes;

  • understanding child domestic work as 'more than labour': gender, age and social obligation;

  • the importance of meaningful engagement with children and young people;

  • legal approaches require localisation and contextualisation;

  • evidence gaps and areas for future research.
